Forgive Thaksin, He Knows What He Does

What does a man whose "war on drugs" is responsible for the deaths of more than 3,000 of his Thai countrymen deserve? The International Forgiveness Award, naturally.

Human rights activist Sunai Phasuk said giving the award to a leader responsible for policies that have led to serious human rights violations bordered on the ridiculous.

"There is a consensus in the international human rights community, including the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights, that Thaksin's war on drugs has led to some of the worst human rights violations in Thailand's history," he said.
It should come as no surprise that the U.S. government is rewarding Thaksin for his drug war crackdown.

For reference sake, Thaksin's murderous rampage would be the equivalent of about 15,000 drug war deaths in the United States.
