Thai Drug War, Take Two

Superlatively evil Thai PM Thaksin, neither content with his part and complicity in the murder of thousands of his countrymen nor feeling any of the "forgiveness" for which he was recently (and erroneously) recognized, is launching a new phase in the country's "war on drugs". (The Drug Policy Alliance is one dozens of groups that have joined to formally protest Thaksin's award.)

The government's own Human Rights Commission said in its annual report in August the anti-drugs war had "destroyed the rights to live of more than 2500 people without fair trials under the principles of democracy and rule of law".

Krisana Polanan, head of the Narcotics Control Board, implied on Monday that some of that was true.

He was asked by journalists if there would be extra-judicial killings this time.

"It depends on the circumstances," he replied. "There won't be many this time because we have done that in the first war and we don't think there will be many left."
That's people he's talking about. There aren't many left because they're dead.

I have long wanted to travel to Thailand, but you won't catch me spending my money there as long as this sick fu*k is in charge.
