The Munchie Monster Disagrees With You
I'm sure anyone who has smoked marijuana before knows what it's like to have the "munchies". That uncontrollable urge to chow down anything you can get your hands on, vegetable, animal, mineral, or otherwise. When I was in high school, my culinary delight of choice was none other than a can of Franco-American Spaghettios. Just pop open the can, grab a spoon, and I was good to go.Who would've guessed that marijuana had fat-fighting qualities?! With its innate ability to make you gorge on nearly anything in sight, whouda thunk that it could also make you lose weight?
Quoted from an article at CNN.COM:
"The cannabis plant has 70 different cannabinoids in it, and each has a different affect on the body," GW Managing Director Justin Gover told Reuters."Some can stimulate your appetite, and some in the same plant can suppress your appetite. It is amazing both scientifically and commercially," he said in a telephone interview.
GW said it plans to start clinical trials of the new drug in the second half of this year. Medicines have to pass three stages of tests in humans before being assessed by regulators in a process that takes many years."
That's right. Marijuana, that funny plant that always made you feel like you could drink the world record in pink lemonade or pile drive a bucket of KFC straight into your colon... could also be the thing that helps you fight those pesky midnight snack cravings. Who knows, in a few years, that need to gobble down a plate of curly fries might turn into the urge to throw all food within arm's reach into the garbage disposal.
What a world THAT would be.
